‘the most beautiful spot in Hull’ – Philip Larkin
Our mission is to make Hull General Cemetery a more hospitable place for all the community to visit whilst also maintaining its historical significance and environmental importance for future generations
Hard working volunteers making a difference every day
Volunteers from Friends of Hull General Cemetery can be found in the cemetery on an almost daily basis helping to clear the area of fallen branches, litter, dog-mess, and (if safe to do so) drug paraphernalia.
Some members have ‘adopted’ individual graves within the cemetery which they have taken personal responsibility to clear, and care for.
Our work within the cemetery is also aimed at helping to secure and nurture the plant, animal, and insect diversity of the area through all the seasons.
